PLEASE READ! Informational Tips and Rules!

Hi everyone,

a lot of people never played any stockcar racing game like NR2003 from Papyrus or NASCAR Sim Racing or whatever, therefore many of us do mistakes that are avoidable. To point out a few things what you are allowed to do and what not:

Q.
Yellow Caution is active. What must I do now?

A.
Hold your position. Do NOT overtake your participants and do NOT fall back. It is important to hold a steady pace to catch the rest of the field and line up BEHIND the Pace Car and stay BEHIND! It is also IMPORTANT that everyone lines up in a single line formation behind the Pace Car in the order the game tells you. For this to obey it is important that you all must activate the "Vehicle Labels". That can be done in the game settings. I´ve mapped that function on my TAB key.

Whenever the game says "We´re going to Green next time by", lapped cars must line up on the inside line (left line). With a Caution Period within 10 laps to go, there is ALWAYS a Single Line Restart!

Q.
Yellow Caution is active. Am I allowed to pit directly?

A.
No! When the Caution comes out initially the Pit Road will be closed! This is to give the entire field a chance to bunch up behind the Pace Car and so that noone else gets a time advantage when pitting. Only enter the Pits when the game allows you or states: Pit Road Open!

Q.
The game told me "You have received the Lucky Dog" What must I do now?

A.
If under a special circumstance you are the "Lucky Dog" recipient, that means to get one lap back if you are a lap down. If so you are allowed to pass the Pace Car and line up BEHIND the field again. Meaning you have to drive around the track and line up BEHIND the field and stay BEHIND! Then you got your lap back!

Q.
What does "Pit Road Open For Lead Lap Cars Only" mean?

A.
It´s that easy as it says: If you are a Lap or several Laps down, you are NOT allowed to enter the Pits with the leading lap cars at the same time. Lapped cars do have to pace one more Lap behind the Pace Car, until the game says "Pits Open To All Cars".

Q.
What does "End Of Longest Line" mean?

A.
If you receive this kind of penalty it means that you have to line up behind the last car of the longest line, which is normally at the end of field! You mostly get this penalty when driving to fast on Pit Road or with other things.

Q.
What does "Double File Restart" mean?

A.
A Double File Restart only happens on a racestart or restart if one or more cars are lapped! Lapped cars do have to line up on a restart on the INSIDE line. Meaning the car that is the first car one lap down has to line up behind the Pace Car on the inside line and the rest of the lapped cars do the same.

Q.
What must I do if I spun into and while entering the pits and causing a caution?

A.
It can happen every now and then if drivers don´t want to loose time during a pitstop. They try to enter the pits as fast as possible. But this is a dangerous act which mostly result in uncontrollable spins causing a Caution and it can also happen that you spin into the pitroad!

In fact this is a grey area. From what I know it would be nessesary to Drive Through the pitroad and line up behind where the game tells you. In the worst case you will receive a Penalty for that because the Pits are closed immediately when a Caution is active! Though if you spun before the commitment line of the Pit Road, it is safe to stay on track and line up where the game tells you!

Q.
I´m heavily damaged and need to pit even if the pits are closed. Is this possible?

A.
Yes it´s possible. Even if the Pits are closed you can enter them for repairs at the expense of receiving a penalty which is mostly "End Of The Longest Line" short EOLL.

Q.
All drivers are entering the pitroad. How do we have to line up there in order to stay out of traffic and to avoid collisions?

A.
When entering the pitroad, everyone is encouraged to use the outter lane on pitroad to give other drivers room when they leave their pitstall. This also reduces unnessesary collisions on pitroad! Overtaking is forbidden unless a driver slows down for a specific reason like entering his/her pitstall.

well here is another one for you (we kinda discussed it already yesterday )

what if you spun while entering pits & caution came out while you already in the pits (& still sliding )?
for me it's a bit grey area in the overal rule book & the game also

Good point there Christopher. I´ve added your question and gave my answer to it! That is how I would do it. In fact the game will always point out a Penalty for this situation unless the Admin considers to remove the penalty. Under a real situation I think the Officials would not point out a Penalty, letting you Drive through Pitroad and line up behind the field until the Pits are officially opened!

You know it´s just a game unfortunately, so it cannot handle everything like in reality, though some grey areas do always exist

that is true......but either way it's a fun game
maybe someday in the future an oval sim game will keep notice of those rules in the codes

also maybe a bit good to tell how to lineup while driving in the pitlane
cars that just enter the pitlane to keep more to the right side (right side of the white line in the pitlane) & cars that just finished their pitstop line up a bit more the the left (left side of the white line in the pitlane)....
this is more to avoid collision

Worth pointing out if you are involved in a crash and have heavy damage you can pit straight away and just pick up a longest line penalty.
