Definitly the guys i will watch this year are the dutch twins Tim and Tom Coronel. Both have extensive experience in roadracing (touringcars, openwheelers) and will team up this year to drive for Dakarsport.com in one team. For those who know Tom and Tim will agree that they are very competitive, and it will be great to see who will make the most mileage during this rally because both want to sit behind the wheel
. Tim already drove the 2007 Dakar rally in Africa and seems to have the most off road experience. But knowing Tom he will not want to loose from his brother and he quickly to adapt. After his WTCC win in Okayama Tom will be in the winning mood. Really curious how far they will come in an environment without tarmac! Bowler Nemesis: Engine: Jaguar V8 4.396 cc/32V (280bhp) Gearbox: six-speed sequential Pictures: Dakarsport.com (Koos vd Leest) |

It will probably will be Mitsubishi again who will come out on top.
They have proven to be the best on numerous occasions, although Volkswagen was coming up strong in the last editions. I hope the Hummer does well this year too. And then there is BMW.... Too much to choose from...

Dutchman Bob ten Harkel replaced Freddy Loix from Belgium just a few before the start. Loix has other objectives since he is gonna drive the Monte Carlo rally for Peugeot. The dutchman takes over the wheel of his Bowler Nemesis during the monsterrally

![]() The Coronels will be sharing a Bowler Nemesis car, while the 2008 FIA World Touring Car champion Muller will be at the wheel of a single-seater SMG buggy powered by a 250bhp 6-cylinder boxer Porsche engine. "Tim and I are still discussing who will do the driving and now it looks we will share it fifty-fifty. Tim will drive for the first two days, I will do it for days three and four, and so on. The car is in good conditions and everything has been well prepared," Tom Coronel said. The 2009 Dakar starts today from Buenos Aires and will come back to the Argentine capital city on January 18th, after 6,000 km of special stages through Argentina and Chile. Eurosport
