Default How to: Night Race

I found this just there a few minutes ago and found it interesting. Its how to race at night. Here is how:

Go into where the track files are located for your game, such as: C:\Program Files\RACE 07 Offline\GameData\Locations\Zolder (or whatever track you want to change),Copy Zolder so that you have to Zolder circuits. Rename one Zolder Night. Then open the GDB file for Zolder Night in Notepad, and in there you can change the times for when each session starts, so just change the times and save the file:

TestDayDay = Wednesday
TestDayStart = 15:30
Practice1Day = Saturday
Practice1Start = 15:00
Practice2Day = Saturday
Practice2Start = 18:30
QualifyDay = Saturday
QualifyStart = 20:00
WarmupDay = Sunday
WarmupStart = 20:30
RaceTime = 25
RaceTimeScaled = 25
Race1Day = Sunday
Race1Start = 21:30
Race1Laps = 11
RaceLaps = 11
Race2Day = Sunday
Race2Start = 23:00
Race2Laps = 11

Click save and you are done.

Heres proof:

Also If you change the time to 04:00 you can race at dawn

Yes, but without headlights shining on the road ahead, it is a bit silly and unrealistic isn't it?

Does the GTR EVO cars not have fully working headlights?

And also in that last pic there are floodlights.

Night racing in rFactor is quite good, but you need mod with decent headlights to be viable. RACE07 does not have illuminated lights at all it seems

You can have an option of time or laps in a race. If you choose time there are the default settings.

also, doesn't editing the GDB file balls up your online compatability...? be sure to back it up and replace it if you don't want a life of "booted for cheating" mismatches...

edit: sigh - didn't fully read the method in the first post, ignooooore meeeeee

That looks like my post from Nogrip.

I had forgotten I posted that - I should of posted it here, (sorry guys) - well found Ross

Spa at night is probably the best one I found to race so far. Some of the tracks have working lights, some don't.

I haven't done a night race in ages, but from what I remember - these are the ones that I have raced at night where the lighting around the track has worked in places:

Monza*
Valencia*
Spa
Zolder

Donington
Zhuhai
Themalito
Le Mans (Virtua_LM)
Mid-Ohio (Virtua LM)
Misano

There probably others but I haven't tried all the tracks.

If you convert the following from GTR 2 they have lighting that works:

Adeleide**
Long Beach**
St Petersburg**
Cleveland Airport**
Birmingham Superprix Night**

Racing around Russian Ring at 19:30 (top image) or 16:30ish (lower image)is quite a nice one with the sun setting

As is Silverstone at about 20:00.

The light son the Vectra are not as bright as the others and they don't light up until you are closer to the back of the car than the others.

Even if night is a bit silly, the dawn/dusk driving is great. I used to love that in GTL, with the long shadows. Very atmospheric...

Maybe experience modders can create headlights shining on the road ahead using the shadows effect on the sides fo the cars at sun light...

Or maybe import the feature from gtr2.

Night versions of the tracks also.

Just a few ideas...

All that addon does is make the headlight texture on the car a bit brighter when they are turned on. It doesn't make them light up the track or anything.

Ye, GTR2 has very good headlights and is very good at night, It's a shame they made poor lights for race07 when they had GT cars planned for it further down the line.

Hi

There is an further way to driving at morning, evening or night.

Just open your plr and go to "Race Conditions" and change the "0" to "1"
Quote:
Use System Time="0" // Session start time for none-Cup races uses machine time
Regards Peter
