1st try at painting/skinning

Ok below is a picture at my first attempt at painting and skinning a car (anything)

Please have a look and if there's any advice you can give me please do, I very new to this on-line racing community so be gentle with me.

For a first time skin its a good go.

Pointers:

1. If you got your logo as a EPS and opened it within Illistrator you can pull the main parts of the logo away from the background.

2. Using the eye drop tool within either Illistrator or Photoshop you can pull the colours out of images therefore be able to match up colors E.g the green from the 7up logo to the green of the car.

3. Possably enlargen the 7Up lgogs on the side of the car, If this is the main sponsor they'll want to make sure everyone can see there logo as its flyng around the track.

4. Your "Fido" by the number due to the fact the car has a dark base color it may be worth altering the color of the "Fido" so it stands out more.

But as stated for a first skin its dam good start. Remember google is your friend - google car liveries and youll get a few ideas of how the real liveries are delivered.

Jarrod, took you advice and reworked the Main Sponser, making sure it was more visible from each angle especially the bonnet. Rotated the top fido and added a logo, personal preference but more aesthetic. Added a few secondary sponsors to the bottom skirts and gave the driver a workover. Now to try and sort out those window stickers.

Looks nice, Steven. I like that you've taken 3 sponsors with the same green/white/red colour scheme.

If it were me, I'd flip old fido and have him emerging from the black surround on the rear wheel arch and move the sponsor logo forward so it's out of the way of the door handle. you could always promote the logo layer and have the "7" poking over the top of the checks too. You could make it even bigger that way.

Thanks for the advice Stuart, I agree it looks at lot better poking over the chequer

Yeah Jarrod WELL chuffed I've done the driver, just the windows to do, but I keep getting and error when I try to save them "too many channels [5]" (I'm saving as a DX5 for windows) but I don't have time tonight to find a solution

before saving your windows right click on any layer and select "Flatten Image" a warning window will appear "Disgard hidden layers" click yes and then save.

Save it as a psd before you flatten it, but remember to only save it as a dds afterwards and not as a psd, otherwise you will save the flattened image and lose all the layers from your original psd file!!
... which is very annoying if you want to change or copy anything (eg for another skin) 'cos you then have to start from scratch again ... voice of experience here

Very Irish too!! I did a 7Up skin a while ago for a BMW somewhere - I'll dig it out after work... but what a superb attempt for your first go. I've seen a lot worse!!
