This weekend, Sunday the 8th of June to be precise, the online qualifications for the 3rd Semi-Final open. For the first and possibly the last time this season the V-WTCC Ranking and the Yokohama Independents’ Trophy Demo Ranking open on the same track. Brands Hatch, located in Kent just outside London, will play host to the events.
With a new ranking period starting new rumours and speculations fill the air. In both previous V-WTCC Ranking periods Mattieu Prevot claimed to the top spot, both in the BMW and the overall Ranking. However, in neither case he reached the Semi-Final. Will he manage this time? The third time is the charm, they say… ![]() After the Brno qualifications the respect towards Demo drivers has grown as well as the expectations regarding their performances. Since they stunned spectators with their outstanding performances in the Brno Brand Cup Races (most noticeably Viktor Szabo, who reached the Semi-Finals from through Demo) more eyes have focused on the Yokohama Independents’ Trophy, in which the level of performance has grown higher than previously expected. Who will spring from the surface this time? The V-WTCC Ranking is open from 8 – 27 June The Yokohama Independents’ Trophy Demo Ranking is open from 8 – 24 June. Join and claim your ticket to the Semi-Finals! Read more: V-WTCC - The Virtual World Championship Last edited by Bram Hengeveld; 10th June 2008 at 01:33. |

![]() V-WTCC News (V-WTCC - The Virtual World Championship) ![]() The second Semi-Final event was dominated by the white army. At the circuit of Brno the BMW drivers swept around the track and left the rest to sniff the dust. At June 14th the qualified drivers fastened their ‘seatbelts’ to take a shot at the podium positions and the invitations to the season final at Monza. The competition was slightly modified to meet the temporarily smaller capacity. The field was split in two and two heats would decide who would participate in a final race for the prizes. It had been no secret that the BMWs were the favorites to win, as they proved to be significantly faster in the ranking of Brno. And so they did. In both heats BMW scored a one-two and in the final heat the four of them got away from the Seats, who proved to offer the most resistance with drivers Viktor Szabo and Ismail Sancak. Honda and Chevrolet had to do with the remaining places, though it was clear that limits of these cars were tested and maximum result achieved. A top four BMW was only prevented when BMW driver Rene Hiddel made a mistake and spun off, leaving the way open for the other three BMWs to divide the podium positions. Danny Engels and Daniel Struck battled for second till the very end, but they could not catch Nils Naujoks, who successfully safeguarded his leading position. The Chevrolet HHR, the Grand Prize of V-WTCC 2008, has three new potential owners. Six spots are taken for the final event and ten more are available to whoever manages to beat the rest to it.
