Default Brands Hatch qualy starts today!

This weekend, Sunday the 8th of June to be precise, the online qualifications for the 3rd Semi-Final open. For the first and possibly the last time this season the V-WTCC Ranking and the Yokohama Independents’ Trophy Demo Ranking open on the same track. Brands Hatch, located in Kent just outside London, will play host to the events.

With a new ranking period starting new rumours and speculations fill the air. In both previous V-WTCC Ranking periods Mattieu Prevot claimed to the top spot, both in the BMW and the overall Ranking. However, in neither case he reached the Semi-Final. Will he manage this time?
The third time is the charm, they say…

After the Brno qualifications the respect towards Demo drivers has grown as well as the expectations regarding their performances. Since they stunned spectators with their outstanding performances in the Brno Brand Cup Races (most noticeably Viktor Szabo, who reached the Semi-Finals from through Demo) more eyes have focused on the Yokohama Independents’ Trophy, in which the level of performance has grown higher than previously expected.
Who will spring from the surface this time?

The V-WTCC Ranking is open from 8 – 27 June
The Yokohama Independents’ Trophy Demo Ranking is open from 8 – 24 June.

Join and claim your ticket to the Semi-Finals!

V-WTCC News (V-WTCC - The Virtual World Championship)

The second Semi-Final event was dominated by the white army. At the circuit of Brno the BMW drivers swept around the track and left the rest to sniff the dust.

At June 14th the qualified drivers fastened their ‘seatbelts’ to take a shot at the podium positions and the invitations to the season final at Monza. The competition was slightly modified to meet the temporarily smaller capacity. The field was split in two and two heats would decide who would participate in a final race for the prizes.

It had been no secret that the BMWs were the favorites to win, as they proved to be significantly faster in the ranking of Brno. And so they did. In both heats BMW scored a one-two and in the final heat the four of them got away from the Seats, who proved to offer the most resistance with drivers Viktor Szabo and Ismail Sancak. Honda and Chevrolet had to do with the remaining places, though it was clear that limits of these cars were tested and maximum result achieved.

A top four BMW was only prevented when BMW driver Rene Hiddel made a mistake and spun off, leaving the way open for the other three BMWs to divide the podium positions. Danny Engels and Daniel Struck battled for second till the very end, but they could not catch Nils Naujoks, who successfully safeguarded his leading position.

The Chevrolet HHR, the Grand Prize of V-WTCC 2008, has three new potential owners. Six spots are taken for the final event and ten more are available to whoever manages to beat the rest to it.

Nils has the same focussed look on its face as David Greco had in Valencia. Are those the eyes of an overall winner?

Default IGN writes about V-WTCC and the HHR

Quote:
SimBin Presents the New Chevrolet HHR, the Grand Prize of V-WTCC

The Virtual World Touring Car Championship is a touring tournament featuring RACE 07 -- The Official WTCC Game.

June 24, 2008 - The Chevrolet HHR, the Grand Prize of V-WTCC showed its dark orange V-WTCC branded skin to the crowd for the first time at the second semi final of V-WTCC held at Brno in the Czech Republic. As part of Chevrolet's efforts for the environment, the HHR will be equipped with an LPG installation and the winner will receive a EUR500 LPG voucher.

"It is a whole new experience for Chevrolet as we are involved in this kind of project for the first time ever. It looks promising and we are looking forward to see how it develops" said Eric Nève, Manager Motorsport, Chevrolet Europe.

The Chevrolet HHR was doing more than just collecting sunbeams at the V-WTCC Game Park; it was leading the FIA WTCC field as the Official WTCC Leading Car and showed off at the official track podium afterwards.

On June 14th the second V-WTCC Semi-Final was held on the circuit of Brno. In a series of races Nils Naujoks, Danny Engels and Daniel Struck claimed the tickets to the season's V-WTCC Grand Finale at the historical track of Monza in Italy run parallel to FIA WTCC. These drivers join the previously qualified David Greco, Sven Eckhardt and Tomislav Vladovic in this long anticipated final event of the season.

Six spots have been claimed for the final showdown at Monza and ten more spots remain to be claimed in the battle for the Grand Prize. Brands Hatch is coming up next at the end of July.

Round 4 of V-WTCC about to Start!
The next road to the Chevrolet HHR opens

As the online qualification of round 3 draws to its climax, the online qualification for round 4 is about to start. The ranks once again open for new faces. This new round means new chances for all who try their skills and their luck in this first season of the Virtual World Touring Car Championship.

In late April of this year SimBin, Eurosport and Partners launched V-WTCC, a unique project that links real racing with virtual racing in one championship. In just six simple steps anyone go from registering to the competition to winning the V-WTCC Grand Prize: the Chevrolet HHR!

Eric Nève, Motorsport Manager at Chevrolet Europe proud of the HHR

In five separate rounds, held on various tracks, the participants go from setting lap times in the online V-WTCC Ranking to driving the online Brand Cup Races, to traveling to the location of the onsite Semi-Final, held at a circuit during the WTCC venue there. Here drivers can qualify for the season’s Grand Finale at the historical circuit of Monza in Italy, where they can win the car.

A few months have passed and two of the Semi-Finals have been held already, with the third, held at Brands Hatch (Great-Britain) coming up at the end of the month. Now the first steps can be made in the fourth qualification period. This time V-WTCC moves to the circuit of Oschersleben in Germany, where the battle for the top spots in the V-WTCC Ranking will be resumed on the 7th of July.

To read more about V-WTCC and see how you can take part, please visit www.v-wtcc-com.
