Colours of smoke

Their is a weird glitch in my game that has been there from the first moment and has not disappeared after a reinstall.

White smoke tends to get very greenish and black smoke tends to get very purple-ish on the outher edges of the cloud. This is an very weird and unrealistic effect that I'd prefer to get rid of. Does anyone know what I can do about this?

What videocard you are using? Which directX version? Which firmware version of the drivers?

GeForce 7900 GS (256MB)
DirectX 9.0c (4.09.0000.0904)

What other infor is required? Dunno what you mean with firmware.

I meant the latest version for your drivers.. Vidcard is similar as mine so should be good..

I think the best thing to do is remove the old drivers first.

Use control panel add remove programs to delete the nvidia drivers.
Reboot the pc and install the latest beta drivers (Nvidia Beta Forceware 169.28), you can find them here:

After this reboot again and install the december version of Directx c, you can find them here:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en

After this run setup from video drivers again and reboot, now you are sure you have the latest directx and latest nvidia files.

Test the game again.

If it is not solved it is caused by some wrong track files, try to setup a clean GTR2 install and see what color smoke you have. If it's a GTR2 track or mod install issue then atleast you have the latest drivers well configured.

using none legal windows?...then it would not pass.....you need to dl it from some place else then microsoft site

btw 7900GS was my old graphics....& i never had any problems with the smoke in GTR2....

which now reminds me.....is your graphics setting setup in gtr2 setup medium?....try high to see if the problem is still there

I just ran GTR2 again, without installing the new DirectX driver (although I still have version 9.blablahblah, according to my DirectX Diagnostics). The settings were reset to medium (I had them on high), but now the smokecolours were gone. So I guess that's an improvement. However the game looks 'unsharp' or 'unfocussed'. It's a bit vague or blurry.

Smoke is gone, but it is as if the game looks a bit different, not sure whether the quality is lower, but I could not set video settings to full without the text turning red. I forgot however how that was before tonight. I'll try with this for now.
