Default Practice

Ok I suck at iRacing and need to practice a lot to get anywhere. But its gets boring running practice sessions alone. Does anyone fancy getting some practice sessions arranged. Im guessing there are a few of the new guys that are better than me so running practice seesions nose to tail with people from RD would help me get better (if its actually possible) with running in traffic.

So i was wondering if anyone wants to try and get some RD practice sesssions arranged for any car on the track of the week.

Or alternativley if your going to join a practice session post the details in this thread and then anyone can join at the same time if they wish.

I just had an awful race on Laguna Seca, took 2 off the line got to the first corner and the chap in front just slams the ancers on, next corner he spins making me avoid but another fails to see and ploughs in to us both - great to watch, but my points just went through the floor.

I'd like to see how you get 1:50 or less, I can only manage 1:53 for being scared to run off track!

Looks like this is gonna be hard to organise as ppl aint gonna be checking this every 10 mins. Need Teamspeak or something that ppl join when playing iracing. From there everyohne thats actually in iracing could organise something.

And as for Laguna ive never broken the 1.50 mark and that was in the old car with the old gearing. To be honest i havent driven the solstice for a good while.

Yea i guess that would work but only really helps if your not racing at the time. and remember to join .

With Teamspeak you can join and leave it running in the background and just mute it when in a real race.

I was thinking about how we could organize this like racing club events, problem is that a large number of people joining a practice session causes intrigue by other iRacers.

But I'm always up for pre planned practice sessions, what series can everyone do?

I would think at the moment all can run rookie class cars and a few are already into advanced. And i bet one or two have got above a 4 SR and could race up but that means additional content.
So sticking with the rookie/advanced series to start would allow everyone a chance to participate if they wished.

And as for more people joining hey thats cool you just meet new ppl too

I think the hard part is actually deciding on a day and time.

As for the series i can do.
I can run everything upto and including the Fornula Mazda on roads. On ovals LAte model is the highest i can go and wont be going any higher i dont think. Running ovals and road is only going to spread the little skill I have too thin. Sticking with one disipline for me makes sense and who know i may even improve at it

Shall we give it a go tonight

I'll be in for the 8.00 GMT Rookie Solstice practice.

Remember that there can only be 12 people in a single server. To increase the chances for being in the same group as other RD members remember to add those listed here to your friends list

Nothing is guaranteed though

I must admit im starting to develop a real feel and sense of good pure sim enjoyment from iRacing.Beautiful Fizziks.

Yea i love the way the cars feel to drive. I havent been able to spend more than 5 mins in any other sim without feeling like im driving a bar of soap on a sheet of glass. Which makes them no fun at all.

Ok, I've deduced that I hate the rookie Solstice. It doesn't drift in places where the advanced car would. In 30 minutes I got 37 incidents, luckily it was only practice.

Besides that, just me & Ricky.

Would anyone perhaps be intrested in a practice session this Sunday in any series people can do. New track Sunday so it's an ideal time!
R Solstice - Lime Rock
A Solstice - Laguna Seca
R Legends - South Boston
A Legends - Lanier National Speedway

It's doubtful that everyone will have the Skippy & Late model so we'll stick to the default

In 20.45 Practice!

Im up for sunday night practices in any car (preferably the advanced versions)

Set the time and one of us could create a RD chatroom in iracing 30 mins beforehand so we can meet up and choose a session to invade.

Yeah I'll be there.

... although we should probably start with the rookie car especially when you consider my score - it was down to 2.0 the other day!

Practice sessions don't count towards your SR.

People tend not to use online practice sessions because your usually alone, hence the attempt to gather some intrest here.

Is the advance Solstice faster then?

I thought it was just a case of allowing custom setups?

I found the advanced Solstice much easier to drive at Laguna. Give it a go

Gah, I really need to stop using curbs as run off!

I didn't spin once in the last race but got 12 incidents for running curbs, the problem is I'm soooo used to doing it in real life that I just do it by habit/necessity.

Must-stop-doing-it.

PS: I'm racing at the mo.
