Thanks Waku.
Strange thing, when i took the PC from the shop, it had a virgin install of XP, but every hardware was added. First it also made this stupid restarting, only difference was compared to the current situation, that after switchiong off, when it reached the point that it had to be completely switched off it restarted iommediately, now it waits in a kind of suspend mode for about 1 min, then it restarts. (since i disabled auto restart, it waits in thsi suspend mode unitl i switch off manually by power button or switcihn off the UPS). Then in the shop they increased the Vcore voltage from auto (1.275 V i think) to 1.35 manually, and then it was switching off normally, with all the devices installed, with the exception of the UPS driver, mouse driver, keyboard, and CD writer package with Direct CD.
Then here at homne after a while it started again its stupidity not to switch off, unfortunately i cant tell exactly when....
As i wrote yesterday i uninstalled the CD writer program, without any success, but yesterday i did not had any error messages.

Then:
Update from today morning: when i switched on the PC the blue death screen appeared with the following error code:

STOP 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x0000001D, 0x9E483560, 0x00000000)

I started in safe mode, in device manager it had problem with the APC UPS driver. I uninstalled it, switched off in safe mode, it shut down ok. I started the PC normal mode, again it did not switch off, same story as before.
Then in device manager i disabled th UPS, it was still there but as a generic HID device, started Maxthon to write the story here, and with the starting of Maxthon the blue death screen appeared with the following error:

STOP: 0x00000024 (0x001902FE, 0xBACF7A7C, 0xBACF7778, 0x804FCD7D)

Strangely in device manager everything was ok, no any device with error.....
After i enabled again the UPS, but as a generic HID device, without installing the driver for it, PC works now, but still it does not want to switch off....

Mothrboard: Asus Striker Extreme
BIOS info written during booting:
1. page: ACPI Bios revision 1102
2. page: Bios version 7.3.73
Mediashield Bios 6.73

I have an Ethernet card on the motherboard with 2 plug in space.
I uninstalled in the meantime Logitech Setpoint software for the mouse as you wrote, it also did not help, PC still do not switch off....

I would not want to reinstall all the things, that one i would reeeeeally hate to do, hope other solution exists also.... And if i reinstall all things, why do you think it wold be better....?

Waku, i really appreciate all your efforts in trying to help me, thanks a lot m8!

p.s.: SHIT, shall i uninstall now everything??? I bought the PC to use it, not to install-re-install things, to be able to switch it off... ****....

Again new blue death screen during browsing with MAxthon, at one of the clicks, error message:

STOP: 0x0000008E (0xC0000005, 0x80534719, 0x983677E0, 0x00000000)

What the ****....?

Hi!
Someone had similar problem with Striker motherboard. According to him the solution was change the USB mouse to a PS2 mouse. Sounds really weird..

When you get bored I would start from the clean plate. Make clean Xp install and add drivers and programs one by one to find what is causing it. Its a lot of work I know but sometimes its necessary. Good luck.

peace,
Paarma

I think i found it.

Download this bios:
http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/...eme/SE0901.zip

Flash the bios according to the instructoins on the asus site.

After that:
Change the LDT frequency (found in Extreme Tweaker -> Overclocker) from 5x to 4x.

Then it should be solved, this bios is older then the one you use now i guess. If you already have this bios then just Change the LDT frequency (found in Extreme Tweaker -> Overclocker) from 5x to 4x.

Good luck!!

LDT frequency i already changed to 4, since this was the advice from ASUS European service as well, it did not had any effect on the issue, although i do not know if it was with this BIOS or not, i will try it, thanks.

I found the problem, but not the solution.

History of today:
BIOS version was already 0901 after motherboard change, but also with this and the newest 1102 did not matter which LDT frequency i set, still restarted.

After i tried the PS2 mouse as well, but still restart.

Then i uninstalled the video drivers, and it switched off!!!!
I put back only 1 card, install: switched off again normally.
Put back the other video card (but still only 1 in the PC): switch off. (so alone both cards works ok)
Put back the 2 together, install, SLI disabled still: switch off
Enable SLI in Nvidia contorl panel: RESTART!
Disable SLI: still RESTART! (strange....)

Then uninstall again, just 1 card put in, install: working perfectly, switching off 10 times out of 10...

So it seems the SLI is the problem somehow

Now it is working fine, the only pain is, that compared to the 2 card SLI setup where i had a 3DMark06 score of 14 200 around without tweaking anything, now i had with only 1 card 12 700... i know, still very nice score, but.....

Any ideas ....? I have the latest 158.22 forceware driver from Gainward site.

God bless, at least now switching off normally... pfffff.....

i think i've heard some time ago somewhere (don't remember anymore) about people having problems running 8800GTX in SLI config & that there was still no solution.......
so i guess you have to wait till a new bios version.....or check on nvidia's forum & see what people have done that the problems don't come back anymore ;)

I suggested it before to remove one graphics card, so its the cause of the problem.

Now it's time to find a driver which works ok.

maybe you can find it at www.guru3d.com there is a lot of information about drivers and graphical cards.

Me myself was never a big fan of SLI, i had it with the Voodoo 3d cards too in the past. Lots of problems always. But there are also many people who never got any problems with it.

So test out a few drivers now.

Ok, thanks Waku. Honestly since i already purchased the 2 cards, and saw how blistering performance they give, i want to have both of them!
Maybe they are just too new, and an updated driver will follow soon....
I want back that missing 1500 pts in 3DMark....

Neo, it is nice to have a great 3DMark score, but don't forget NVIDIA and ATI add several features in their drivers to optimise 3DMark performance.

When you have a great score it is not sure if real gaming will be that good too.

I am sure your real gaming will be good as i have an 8800 myselfs and i love it.

I don't know if you can return the card back and only use one, i think this will be powerful enough. It is not good you have 2 expensive cards now and you are able to use them in a few months.

If i where you i returned one card and buy it again for less money in a few months when it's a bit cheaper and the drivers are ok.

Yepp, that is exactly option no.2, but no.1 is still that they MUST find a way that these hardwares are working together, since on paper they are compatible, but phisically they do not work. So now the shop is busy writing letters to ASUS and Gainward, to either update the BIOS or the vid card driver to fix the problem.

I AM TELLING YOU THAT THIS IS A GRAPHICS CARD ISSUE NEO.

I have the same problem. I don't have a clue what is wrong... it has happened since I have installed my x1950 Pro.

What can we do guys?!

It is not hardware in my case, since both cards individually are working ok, just in Sli mode they are not, so either the motherboard BIOS or the videocard driver is having an incompatibility issue here i think.

It seems the shop found the problem with my PC, it was there for the whole weekend.

They said, the PC is working perfect now, all what they did they installed Vista 32 bit instead of XP 32 bit....

At least it is working, but sounds wierd, since we especially picked still the XP OS, because of driver compatibility issues... nevermind....

fock them all. the restarting problem solved, but the mic problem not, no even from the back it does not feel that it has mic plugged in. Also additional problem with Vista, i cant install the web cam, i install it from the factory CD, still it asks for installation... also after i installed the Sound driver, the 2 DVD drives disappeared from Windows, however in BIOS they are existing... So, Fock them all, i give it back to the shop, they asked it for 1 week for intensive testing and driver searching., this will happen next week, so i will be off from any online activity between 25th June and 2nd of July.

Fock them all, did i say that already....?

you said that only a few times Neo

And indeed, your pc is doing very rare, better to give it to the shop than try it yourself
