Hi Frank (good to see you still hang around here)

From what you describe i cannot think of a reason why it will not work. Specs looks fine to me. Did you try a reinstall of the game?

His graphics card is severely bottlenecked by that CPU. It's not really a wonder why the new graphics card didn't make much of a difference imo.

*Also be careful reinstalling it under xp as I can delete the boot.ini file.

Oliver, about reinstalling, i do not know what "the boot.ini file" means ? I am not strong in all those computer technical words!

Dont know how muxh the PS2 version of this game differs form the rest, I imagine quite a bit!!

But I have nearly finished it and gotta say I think its not too bad for a PS2 game, got it for a fiver in a shop down the road

Only problem is that I have only about 5 races and a few clubs left to complete yet completion only shows 57%!! ANd in the menu of completed challenges there are a few I cant find anywhere?

Does something unlock when you finish teh initial game?

I like this game a lot! The best arcade car game at the moment! I play it since august 2007 and I still have fun in it! Also the hardcore mode is pretty good.

Also this is a whole other kind of driving game, this is not specialised on racing, this has road cars and an island to explore. This game has a lot of things that are fun.

edit: And I like it even though I like sims better than arcades.

Good fun game to play with friends - just go for a drive around the entire island all in similar cars... great fun!

Ok fun game, but technically horrible!

On first pc it wasnt playable.. 5-25fps.
AMD 64 3200+/Geforce 7600gt

On second one it was very playable. 40-70fps.
AMD 64 4000+/Geforce 9600gt

On my new one it runs with 5 fps..
C2D E8400/Geforce 9600gt

So.. on my middle pc i almost finished the game..
only one i could play it with.

I don't know why you had so bad performance.
I have a P4 Dualcore 2,8Ghz processor, and when I had a 7600GS (128Mb version) and 1GB RAM, I could still run the game with 4x AA and 4x AF set up in Nvidia control panel, in 1280*1024, high details, about 25-30 FPS.
Now I have 2GB RAM and a 9600GT, and don't know how many FPS I have cause I didn't checked it yet, but it's really smooth, and I even turned on HDR this time, and use 8xAF. So I had no problem at all with this game!

I guess you are one of the lucky ones, About all of the people i know who own the game have had severe issues with the game.

I really liked this game. I 'essentially' finised it but never played online. But then i am a lover of road cars. You could drive slow and enjoy it and i just loved H shift with clutch pedal.

The biggest problem was there was no suspension so the cars were terrible on the twisty mountain roads ... the very roads where this game should excel.

It's no Race07 but sometimes you want to just drive where you want!

I very much like driving on mountain roads in TDU, especially in hardcore mode. Also, if you look at it better, there IS suspension, just turn on your G-meter in hardcore mode and that shows it. BTW in hardcore mode the game has really good physics, not as good as the best sims (like Simbin games, LFS or NetKar Pro), but still very good!

What I don't like in TDU's roads, is that they're not smooth enough...
But yeah, I love road cars, actually so much that I don't even use the tuning option in that game, only on few cars which I choose for online racing. But for anything else, like offline challenges, or cruising, I use untuned cars. The thing that I hate the most, that I can't get hardcore mode right at the beginning of the game, and that I can't do any offline challenges in hardcore mode... Actually I think TDU would be the best if it had only hardcore mode! I also hope that some day, as soon as possible, somebody will create a game, that is like TDU but has no bugs, and has at least as accurate physics as today's Simbin titles
