Default Interface to what RD servers are currently running?

I may just be being lazy , but sometimes I think it would be nice to be able to quickly check from a forum page (or maybe a little utility?) just what is running on the RD servers (ie same info as in multiplayer screen), without having to launch Race/GTR to do it.

Is this possible or would it be a lot of work for someone to create an interface to the RD game servers which could do this?

I think I could do that if I can find any documentation on Race server protocol...

We had that option in livetiming for almost 6 months and nobody checked it But if someone is willing to write a script that makes it possible for everybody to see what servers are online, feel free to contact me or Ramon

I discussed this with Ramon few days ago, as i understood there are technical hold backs to do it for more then 1 rooms for Race 07 for example from 1 physical server, but get in touch with each other guys, maybe you can find out a solution.

I just sent an e-mail to the Simbin Development team. Let's hope someone there has the time and will to help *fingers crossed*

If not there are a few possible, but not guaranteed, solutions which I'll be trying.

you might wanna try contacting the guy that wrote this thread at rsc

PHP Dedicated Server Monitor - RaceSimCentral Forums

it's a php script for a gtl server monitor - so it's probably easy to port... unforuntately, as with all "old" rsc attachments - it's no longer downloadable....

There is no problem with 1 server. But if you run 8 rooms on 1 server, as we do, you can't read it. Because the .exe overwrite the server settings.

But I have something in mind, will try this in the future (don't know the exact description of 'future' )

It would have been a lot easier if we would have used a little gameserver. But RD runs its rooms on powerfull quadcore babies, which have so much power you can boot multiple rooms on it, just like Ramon described.
And the future is just the future. Cant timestamp that

I would have thought there would be some kind of query mechanism rather than reading the config files directly.

Using say the UDP protocol as otherwise the server browser would be unable to report the server information.

I am not sure where SimBin's netcode and multiplayer stuff comes from, but I know with rfactor thats encryption involved, but ISI were quite helpful to a guy called Pointy who made the external browser that could launch the game straight into the server from the desktop which was very useful

maybe it's possible to do a master server list query for all games in question and filter out RaceDepartment* or such rather than querying given ports on given servers. I wonder if this query & response are encrypted too.

Sadly I haven't found a site like Servers playing All Games | Server / Player Search | Game - Monitor . COM that lists racesims...

Querying the lobby is one of the options. It's not encrypted but I don't understand everything that goes on when the game queries the lobby.

Some positive news though.. I managed to get server info for rFactor and GTR2. Race still remains a mystery, but it's got to be something similar to the other two so it can't be that hard to crack

I guess RD need a web designer for main page and something like that can be added to the main site for example.

I had to put the project on hold because I have very little time for myself lately. So far I only managed to get data from rfactor servers. Race07 is a bit more complicated. I'll probably start working on it again next month. If anyone needs some tips on this I have some valuable data to share

Hi guys, I was just wondering: What's the status of livetiming/server-online-status tools for RD? I am a programmer, so maybe I can help.
