Default New Monitor worth it?

I need some advice from our hardware experts.
I have an opportunity to pick up a new 22in widescreen monitor using my credit card reward points, but I don't know how much benefit there is over my current 19in TFT monitor.
The monitor is a Samsung 225BW. At my age and eyesight I thought it might give me better visibility. My graphic card is a NV 78000GT so I assume it would cope with the extra resolution OK?? The native resolution of this monitor is 1680 * 1050, which I assume is supported by RACE 07 etc??

My current 19in monitor can transfer to my wife, so even she is happy to let me get it lol.

So whattya think ??

The bigger the monitor the bigger the fun is.
In widescreen monitor you see more of the track on the left and right next to your car, so even it helps the driving as well, not to mention the immersion what a bigger monitor brings.

Widescreen resolutions are supported by RACE 07 for sure, and every normal game, the last one which did not support it i remember was Toca race driver 2.

How the video card would cope with it i cant judge, i leave it up to the experts, but i guess it would be alright.

I also have the Samsung 226BW and I must say that it is one hell of a monitor !! Great resolution, ultra-quick response time, widescreen, and it's probably one of the most buyed monitors by gamers (as I've seen on 9lives). The price/quality comparison is also wonderful ! For about 300€ you have the 226BW (As far as I can ercall right), which is very, very cheap for a monitor with that power.

Your vid-card can surely handle the higher resolution. I had a 7600GT until a few weeks ago and it worked fine. but now I upgraded ta a 8600GT and it is even better !!! But you should be allright with the 7800GT.

My wife bought the excuse that you guys told it was a must have and without it I would go blind.

Finally, my new 22 in wide screen monitor has arrived. Wow, what a difference.
Now I have to get used to looking at the web pages in wiiiiiiide format, so much easier to read everything.
And after a very quick try of Race 07, huge difference in immersion, you guys were right. I think I will love it, especially as my tired old eyes start to lose it.
