Sim-Gear shifter

Hi,

Since it seems i will not be able to connect my G25 shifter to the ECCI set i started to look around for other options, and i found this one. Very simple but robust design, no any additional hardware or software needed, just plug in into a USB port and thats it. It has double H pattern, so all together 8 speed shifting possibility.



Also i was advised towards this shifter by John the ECCI guy (oki oki i know, ECCI also from America and Gear-sim also... lol):
"Of the shifters that are available we like the Sim-Gear the most. Our customer feedback seems to agree. It is very well built and as far as I know the least expensive. It can be both the least expensive and very well built probably because it does not offer any configuration options which add significantly to the cost of a shifter."

I do not use H-shifter regularly, definetely not in tournament or competition, where every tenth of a sec is counting, because it is slower way of driving, but offline or fun races it is very much pleasure to use it, and in historical simulation like GPL it adds to the reailty feeling as well.

How to change gears with the Sim-gear... lol
for the ones with slow eye this is shifting 8 gears...

Is there any good sequential shifter around? Thinking of upgrading the shifter on my G25 set.

A good sequential one is from Frex.

But i went for this Sim-gear one, it arrived to Budapest yesterday, so this really final touch on my cockpit will give hard times to my new girlfriend i guess....

Hopefully i can put it on the rack by somewhere next week, i think i will need again some home welded stuff at the perfect position to the rack again, so can take a while until it will be in its final location and i can take a pic about it for you guys.

But then i really completed my "room race car"...

Okido, my shifter arrived!

Yesterday i discussed with a guy to make a kind of extension to my rack, to have it in a really fixed firm position, hopefully it will be ready within few days, after i will make a pic about it, with this my "home room race-car" will be officially finished!

About the shifter: it is extremely precise, very short throw, good accurate feeling to have it in the gear (much stronger click in the gear then the G25 for example). Needs some practise of course to master it... but already after the first trials it has a very nice feeling to handle it.

One surprise was for me, that in neutral position it has no any force to keep it in central (no spring at all). I went back to the site and mailed them, of course i found there that it is intentionally designed like that, to have more quick shifting possible.
But surprise surprise, Jeff from Gear-Sim mail-ed me back, that because of the increased interest to have central force in neutral they are just developing a centering spring, which can be assembled to the shifter at home, they will be ready with it in 2 weeks, and i will be among the first ones to get it.

I must say that i am impressed by great customer service here again!

Thanks for keeping us informed Neo, looks very good.
Out of interest (for me anyway), what was your preferred shifting with your G25, paddle, sequential, or H pattern? I'm currently using sequential.

In online racing i always use the paddles, since this is the fastest way of shifting gear.

The H-shifter i will love to use together with the clutch, but only off-line, or on-line for fun racing. When it comes to competition i will always use the paddles still.

I did not really wanted to buy such thing, but i just found this in a tuning shop at home, and i was falling in love with it, so i had to bring it home....
I hope i will be able somehow to put it on the shifter.
