Crazy prices for two tho, Nearly a thousand pounds for two top of the range cards.
I bought a 6800 ultra when they first came out, That was £412 and i will never spend that much again on 1 card!

Ouch, I spent £180 on the 8800GT, they're now going for £130 4 months later.

I wouldn't pass one of these up if I was offered them, but you know in 6,9,12 months there'll be a single card that kicks this one.

Or a OCuK one with a slower shader for just under £330 with VAT

I payed £350+ for my POV 7950gx2 when it was released and it's run perfectly since day 1 with the occasional blow out when I decoke my box, I smoke while I'm at the box so that happens 3/4 times a year, hehe, so as long as you have a decent throughput of air it shouldn't be a prob. I have been considering the 9800gx2 since release but need to scrape the cash together somehow before it becomes anything more than a consideration, lol

Was tempted by a 9800gx2 but atm I'm skint, loads of rumours flying round about 9900gtx's and a 9900gx2 in June/July '08. Here's a couple

GT200 to become 9900GTX and 9900GX2, launch date set to July*Update* - Expreview.com

9900GTX & 9900GTS to be released as soon as early July - Overclock3D Forums

I'm holding off for now to see if the 9800 price plummets come June or if the 9900 starts at a 'reasonable' price.

I´ve bought this card yesterday:

Point Of View 9800 GX2 and it´s just brilliant!

Of course you need a powerful PSU if you run much peripherie like DVD-ROM/RAM, HDDs, Dual/Quad Core Processor etc.

I myself have a C2D Quad running with 2GB RAM, 2x500GB Samsung HDDs, 1 Plextor DVD-ROM Drive, 1 LG Dual Layer DVD/CDROM Writer, a Soundblaster X-FI running. My PSU is a BeQuiet BQT ES 700W. This PSU is sufficient for my PC but if you´re running an Intel Extreme Edition CPU or whatever that sucks out Mr. Ampere and Mr. Watt, then you need a stronger PSU. I´m running my PC with default settings so i´m not overclocking any parts as that´s not really worth the money! Freaks do that ;)

Despite the fact that I got no picture first when i´ve installed the card, I though it was my PSU but reading quite good forums around, many people just stated that my PSU is sufficient as long as I don´t overclock. But I still was wondering why my Iiyana 2200 TFT didn´t receive any signal from the card. It´s because I was plugged into the wrong DVI connector. LOOOOL. They suggested to turn on the PC first, wait 10-20 seconds and then turn on the TFT and tadaaaa a picture! This card is freaking fast I tell ya

i did some further investigation and the 9800 is still using the old g92 chip who is used already on the 8800 cards
and somewhere this summer there will be the 9900 series at the stores with the brand new gt200 chip set that will mean prices for the 9800 cards will prolly drop a lot then

True but if we all see it that way, you will never buy any hardware as it changes every day and new hardware is mainly expected every half a year so if you wait for a card with a new chip on it or not doesn´t make a huge difference, only that the current card prices are dropping and that´s all. I`m pretty sure that I will have much fun using this card for at least 1.5 years. Until then I have the money again to get a new card which will be the 9900 series or whatever card is good to go

I both my MSI 8800 ultra in august 2007 (615€) and i can't get all out of it with my e6420@3.2ghz processor. Video cards and memory just are so far ahead of processors, that i don't think there is a point to buy that new one right now. Same thing with memory. Unless you are going to rise cpu fsp and tighten the memory timings, there is no point to buy over 800mhz memory.

ok, these are still only my opinion and not words of god

The only issue with the 9800GX2's atm is that the drivers are not mature and many games still do not get the FPS they should.

However it is a pretty good card and worth it if you can afford it.

@Gareth... Don't bother spending extra money on a card with faster clocks. Overclocking it past that will take about 5 minutes and will save you ££.

@Sascha... Overclocking is great fun Got my Q6600 @ 3.5ghz atm and my 8800GTS 640mb at 661/1880. Unless you are completely stupid then the myths about blowing your pc up are just rubbish. As long as you keep to the safe limits there will not be an issue.

Yup! With decent cooling these days cpu will clock easily 35-50% and are steady. I both my cpu same time with that video card and immediately clocked processor so i let you know when it gives up Although im probably going to buy new one on late this year and we might not see it fails.

I agree, Ntune is your friend I used to have my old system overclocked lots, It madea huge diffrence, Its just a shame my current chip does not overclock well.

No. No. No. Ntune is bad for overclocking. Quite often its a very unstable program. Rivatuner is much better for overclocking graphics cards
